UNC offers gene therapy for sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia.

We invite you to take the transformative journey with us:

1. EDUCATION: Learn about gene therapy, meet with a UNC sickle cell provider, and transplant specialist to talk about this treatment.

2. SCREENING & SUPPORT: where you can be screened for eligibility. It is important for your provider to consider many details about your health such as your history with sickle cell treatments like hydroxyurea, your history of compatibility with blood products, and the type of pain you experience.

3. GENE THERAPY: In our cellular therapy clinic we have experts to prepare you and your family for gene therapy.
