They are helpful tools for patients to have available to them as needed.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400\">North Carolina Specific Resources<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here are some local resources that connect you to services, information, and other organizations throughout the state of North Carolina.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Get connected to <a href=\"https:\/\/ncsicklecellprogram.dph.ncdhhs.gov\/Documents\/SC-EdCounselorContacts-092519.pdf\"><strong>Sickle Cell Health Educators<\/strong><\/a> in your area. We work closely with NC Sickle Cell Health Educators, and you may even see them at your clinic appointment.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgespointenc.org\/resources\"><strong>Bridges Point<\/strong><\/a> is an agency with services, resources and events to connect with your community regarding Sickle Cell.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.piedmonthealthservices.org\/sickle-cell-services\"><strong>Piedmont Health Services<\/strong><\/a> has a variety of resources such as free newborn screenings, case management and genetic counseling.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.piedmonthealthservices.org\/sickle-cell-camp\"><strong>Sickle Cell Camp<\/strong><\/a> is an overnight camp available to those six to sixteen years old with SCD.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400\">Local SCD Support Groups<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Living with Sickle Cell is hard. If you want to connect with others living with sickle cell, here are some support groups to get involved with.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wakecountysicklecell.org\/copy-of-contact\"><strong>Wake County Support Group<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Durham County Support Group<\/strong>: email <a href=\"mailto:cbivens@nc.rr.com\">Cheryl Allen-Bivens<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400\">National Sickle Cell Resources<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sicklecellspeaks.com\"><strong>Sickle Cell Speaks<\/strong><\/a> is an informational tool that has information regarding the disease, disease management, and testimonials for people living with Sickle Cell or hoping to learn more.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sicklecelldisease.org\"><strong>Sickle Cell Disease Association of America<\/strong> <\/a>can connect you to information, clinical trials and other advocacy efforts nationally.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Connect with <a href=\"https:\/\/bethematch.org\/support-the-cause\/donate-bone-marrow\/\"><strong>Be the Match<\/strong><\/a> regarding bone marrow transplant.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Donate Blood at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redcrossblood.org\"><strong>American Red Cross.<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These resources are not affiliated with the Sickle Cell Clinic or UNC Medical Center.
