We embrace and support others’ efforts both clinically and scholarly and seek ways to contribute and offer resources. We look beyond the traditional silos in academic medicine when partnerships are needed and work with collaborators in surgery, pharmacy, public health, epidemiology and hospital administration to facilitate the highest quality clinical care and research.<\/p>\n

Dedication to Service<\/h2>\n

As the public state hospital, we believe that all people deserve equitable treatment, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status. We regard it as our mission to provide state-of-the-art cancer care and access to clinical trials to the people across the state. We are committed to our role in the service mission of UNC to the people of North Carolina.<\/p>\n

Patient Centered Care<\/h2>\n

Cancer and hematology care are ultimately always about the patient first, who is often facing the worst diagnosis they could have imagined. Our clinical role is always to support patients and families during this vulnerable period, offer the most up-to-date information and highest quality treatments to achieve their goals and the best outcomes possible.<\/p>\n

Professionalism, Honesty and Integrity<\/h2>\n

We carry ourselves as representatives of UNC, of Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and of the Divisions of Hematology and Oncology, and accordingly, we act with respect, honesty, and integrity at all times.<\/p>\n

Fellow Wellness<\/h2>\n

Fellowship is inherently challenging, as a time of rigorous clinical work, rapid knowledge acquisition, and establishing a foundation to launch our careers. In the midst of this, we make every effort to achieve wellness, supporting and relieving each other in moments of stress, fatigue, mental health challenges, on top of the normal stressors in our lives. We strive to promote wellness at all levels to better the system for future fellows and physicians.<\/p>\n

Academic Curiosity and Creativity<\/h2>\n

Whether through research or clinical work, the fields of hematology and oncology are broad and diverse, and we actively pursue new knowledge and approaches, and encourage others to do the same.<\/p>\n

Leadership<\/h2>\n

We acknowledge that to be a subspecialist physician is a position of great privilege, and thus we seek to use that role to lead efforts to deliver excellent patient care, contribute to research, improve health care systems, and be a force for good in our communities and society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
