The Institute for Healthcare Quality Improvement (IHQI) has announced projects that will be supported through IHQI’s Improvement Scholars Program. Half of these scholars are members of the UNC Department of Medicine, and they include the following.

 

Mildred Kwan, MD PhD, with lead Renae Boerneke, PharmD, BCPS, CPP — Reducing the Healthcare Utilization of Broad Spectrum Antibiotics: Implementation of Outpatient Penicillin Allergy Assessments. Kwan is assistant professor of medicine in the division of rheumatology, allergy and immunology.

Amy Durr and Subhashini Sellers

 

Amy Durr, MSN, RN, FNP-BC and Subhashini Sellers, MD MSCR — Improving COPD Care for People Living with HIV Infection. Durr is an instructor in the division of infectious diseases, and Sellers is assistant professor in the division of pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine.

Clare Mock, MD CPPS – Optimizing the Care of Patients with Tricuspid Valve Endocarditis Related to Intravenous Drug Abuse through Interdepartmental and Interhospital Collaboration. Mock is assistant professor of medicine in the division of hospital medicine.

 

Evan Raff, MD, with lead Lauren Raff, MD FACSBuilding High-Performance Team Dynamics for Rapid Responses: A Model for Sustainable Process Change and Improved Patient Outcomes. Raff is assistant professor in the division of hospital medicine. Learn more about this project.
