As a physician, I receive the honor and privilege to work with and care for the people of this great state. As a hospitalist and a palliative care provider, I receive the opportunity to work with patients and their families\/friends at some of their most vulnerable times AND I do not take this lightly. I am humbled by their invitation to care for them an I attempt to care for my patients their loved ones with dignity, compassion and competence and hope to do so in a just and equitable fashion. I continue to serve both UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC – Hillsborough. As an associate professor in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Palliative care, I am honored to work with numerous medical students, residents, and faculty in various aspects of patient care. I currently participate on the SOM Education Committee and Leadership Council for the Academy of Educators and have worked to promote a more inclusive and compassionate learning and working environment for all. Throughout my work on these committees and other initiatives in which I am involved, I hope to help create a culture of life-long learning, empathy and compassion, and professionalism.
