David J. Weber, MD, MPH, has been appointed to the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC). As a member, Dr. Weber will provide advice and guidance to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A total of 14 non-federal employee voting weber-newsworthy-dec-24-dec-30members contribute their expertise on topics related to infection prevention, control practices and adverse events in U.S. healthcare settings.

Dr. Weber is the Sanders Distinguished Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, an Associate Chief Medical Officer for UNC Medical Center and has served as the Medical Director of the Department of Infection Prevention at UNC Medical Center for over 35 years. He is also the Vice-President of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. Dr. Weber was appointed to the HICPAC by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
