International projects and programs have been integral to Carolina’s research and training activities for many years, and global health in general is a recognized strength at UNC. The University has made globalization one of its highest priorities, and in 2007 established the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases (IGHID) to bolster global health efforts across the health affairs schools and complement the globalization of the main campus.
