Kelly Carey-Ewend is an MD/PhD student and Chapel Hill native who joined IDEEL in 2021 to pursue a PhD in Epidemiology. He received his B.S. in biology from Brown University with a research focus on intestinal microbiome population genetics. Kelly intends to enter the field of infectious disease for his clinical career and has begun his research in IDEEL under Dr. Jessica Lin, focusing on genomics and epidemiology of Plasmodium ovale. Outside of the lab, Kelly loves dance, comedy, and forcing others to observe his dance and comedy.
