Lauren McCormick is a current undergraduate student at UNC-Chapel Hill majoring in Biology and minoring in Medical Anthropology and Statistics & Analytics. Broadly speaking, she is interested in global health and host-pathogen interactions. At IDEEL, she has primarily been working under Dr. Jonathan Parr to process samples for a longitudinal study of malaria in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

 

In addition to working with IDEEL, Lauren is involved in several other on-campus activities including two dance companies, the UNC PIH-Engage team, and the Biology Department’s peer instructor program. Additionally, in the spring of 2019, she and four other students were award funding by the UNC Office of Undergraduate Research to conduct a study on diarrheal disease and sanitation in Bokaro, Jharkhand, India through the Undergraduate Research Consulting Team program (URCT).
