Mei is a senior undergraduate student at UNC-Chapel Hill double majoring in Biology and Exercise Sports Science and minoring in Chemistry. She is interested in pathogens associated with infectious diseases, particularly those that are drug-resistant. She is currently working for Dr. Jessica Lin in the IDEEL lab, primarily processing samples and assisting Dr. Lin on her most recent project of characterizing asymptomatic malaria transmission in Tanzania from low-density parasitemia. In addition to working at IDEEL, she is also a peer instructor for the UNC Biology department and works as an Emergency Medical Technician at First Choice Medical Transport in the Durham-Chapel Hill area. She is also involved in several clubs on campus, including the Health Careers Club, Carolina Pre-Med Association, and Asian-American Students Association.
