Nigel S. Key, MB, ChB, FCRP, chief of hematology in the division of hematology and oncology, recently published practice guideline updates for venous thromboembolism prophylaxis (VTE) for patients in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. In these updates, Key recognizes that direct oral anticoagulants have been added as options for treating VTE prophylaxis in patients with cancer.
