At the end of a three-year fellowship, trainees will be board eligible for certification in pulmonary and critical care medicine, and well-prepared to establish careers in academic medicine or clinical practice. In addition, all clinical fellows have the option of staying for a fourth year if interested in participating in the training grant and setting a foundation of research and\/or academics.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row  oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6 col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-sm-12 oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n<h2 style=\"margin-bottom: 24px\">Clinical Training<\/h2>\n<p>Clinical training takes place on the medical campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and in outpatient specialty clinics of the UNC Health Care System. We provide training opportunities in inpatient and outpatient pulmonary medicine, procedures including bronchoscopy, and critical care both in the medical ICU and non-medical ICUs.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 16px\"><a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-lg btn-block  oscitas-bootstrap-container\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/pulmonary\/training\/pulmonary-diseases-critical-care-medicine-fellowship\/clinical-training\/\">Clinical Training<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6 col-md-12 col-xs-12 col-sm-12 oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n<h2 style=\"margin-bottom: 24px\">Research Training<\/h2>\n<p>The Division has held an active NIH T-32 Fellowship Training Grant since 1975, supporting the development of future investigators in Pulmonary\/Critical Care Medicine. To facilitate the development of an academic career, approximately one half of the Fellow\u2019s time is devoted to research training during the 3 years of fellowship.
