Her research focus is a group of rare autoimmune diseases: idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM). Her goal is to improve patient outcomes through assessing comorbidities such as cancer and cardiovascular disease. She aims to investigate how comorbidities develop alongside screening strategies and modifiable factors which can be targeted to improve outcomes. She has a strong commitment to medical education and equity in medical care. The goal is to learn what makes it challenging to access: care\\\/see their doctor, treatments and screening tests. Through thoughtful review of collected information, Drs. Patolia and Allenzara hope to help make it easier for patients to get the care they need.
