This variability makes lupus both challenging to diagnose and to treat, underscoring the importance of accurate diagnosis and prompt, effective treatment. For patients who have not found success with standard treatment options, we offer the opportunity to participate in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/tarc\/clinical-trials\/\">lupus clinical trials<\/a>. These trials provide access to new and innovative treatment options and allow patients to contribute to medical research that may benefit others in the future. The lupus clinic is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/rheumatology-allergy-immunology\/people\/saira-z-sheikh-md\/\"> Saira Sheikh<\/a>, a board-certified rheumatologist and allergist\/immunologist. Dr. Sheikh\u2019s extensive expertise enables her to effectively address the diverse and complex needs of our patients with lupus, guiding them toward improved health and quality of life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<span class=\"collapseomatic \" id=\"id69ec33cf72291\"  tabindex=\"0\" title=\"Vasculitis\"    >Vasculitis<\/span><div id=\"target-id69ec33cf72291\" class=\"collapseomatic_content \">\n<p>The UNC Multidisciplinary Vasculitis Clinic provides coordinated care for adult patients with all forms of vasculitis requiring care from multiple specialists including rheumatology, nephrology and pulmonology. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/nephrology-hypertension\/patient-care\/appointments\/multidisciplinary-vasculitis-clinic\/\">Click here to learn more on the Division of Nephrology website.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<span class=\"collapseomatic \" id=\"id69ec33cf722f6\"  tabindex=\"0\" title=\"Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD)\"    >Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD)<\/span><div id=\"target-id69ec33cf722f6\" class=\"collapseomatic_content \">\n<p>The UNC Multidisciplinary ILD Clinic provides coordinated care for adult patients with interstitial lung disease associated with their autoimmune disorder. Patients are seen in the same visit with their Rheumatologist and Pulmonologist. This enhances the clinical examination and helps physicians determine the optimal medical approach for individual patients. The use of ultrasound also provides therapeutic benefits by enabling physicians to pinpoint injection of medicines into the specific affected area(s).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<span class=\"collapseomatic \" id=\"id69ec33cf724ba\"  tabindex=\"0\" title=\"Serving the Needs of the Latinx Population\"    >Serving the Needs of the Latinx Population<\/span><div id=\"target-id69ec33cf724ba\" class=\"collapseomatic_content \">\n<p>On specified days each month, we provide a primarily Spanish-language clinical experience, ensuring that our Latinx patients can comfortably communicate and fully engage in their healthcare. This initiative allows us to address the unique needs of our Spanish-speaking patients, ensuring they receive the same level of attentive and personalized care that all our patients deserve.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400\">Procedures and Ancillary Services<\/h2>\n<h4 style=\"font-weight: 400\">Therapeutic Infusion Center<\/h4>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">A 25-seat facility which serves multiple divisions and departments at UNC, including Rheumatology, Allergy, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Neurology and Dermatology. Patients can receive the full range of infusion therapies, including advanced biologic and other immunosuppressive medicines, intravenous (IV) osteoporosis medicines and IV immunoglobulin.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"font-weight: 400\">Onsite Radiology and Lab Services<\/h4>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fully equipped facilities are located onsite for patient convenience, and to shorten turn-around times for results.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"font-weight: 400\">Outpatient Pharmacy<\/h4>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">UNC Pharmacy at Eastowne is located on the first floor of the UNC Eastowne Medical Office Building. This pharmacy offers convenient prescription pick-up and low-cost over-the-counter medications with free parking in the adjacent parking deck.
