Dr. Kenneth Ataga leads clinical trial for drug that dramatically reduces sickle cell pain

Results from an international, multicenter phase 2 clinical trial led by Dr. Ataga were published online by the New England Journal of Medicine on December 3 and were presented December 4 at the annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology in San Diego. The trial found that an investigational compound called SeIG1 dramatically reduces sickle cell pain crises.

He will deliver the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Astute Clinician Lecture on Nov. 2 at the NIH. Falk also received the Edward N. Gibbs Lecture & Award in Nephrology, a lifetime achievement award.
