Ria Dancel, MD, FAPP<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Ria Dancel<\/a>, MD, FAPP,\u00a0associate professor of medicine and pediatrics in the division of hospital medicine, has received a 2019 Pilot Innovation Award from the UNC Center for Health Innovation<\/a>. \u00a0To date, faculty physicians in the department of medicine have received 10 Pilot Innovation Awards since the Center introduced the awards in 2013.<\/p>\n

Dancel is principal investigator for “Pursuing the Quadruple Aim through Pocket Point-of-Care Ultrasound.” Catherine Coe<\/a>, MD, assistant professor of medicine in the department of family medicine, is co-PI of the project.\u00a0 The team will develop and implement a standardized Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) elective for residents in family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics, which will pave the way for further widespread, interdepartmental and interdisciplinary efforts throughout UNC Health Care, and a more robust curriculum for the UNC School of Medicine.<\/p>\n
