professor of medicine in nephrology, and Christina Herrera, MD, MSCI, assistant professor in the division of maternal-fetal-medicine, in the department of obstetrics and gynecology.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very excited to announce the opening of our multidisciplinary combined maternal-fetal medicine and nephrology clinic,&#8221; said Reynolds. &#8220;Women with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are among the highest risk individuals for adverse pregnancy outcomes, and UNC is a large referral center for reproductive age women with underlying CKD.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Herrera explained the long-term aim.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want to improve outcomes for reproductive women with CKD, while becoming a leader in best practices of care for this unique population, Herrera said.\u00a0 &#8220;The clinic is a one-stop-shop where women can receive both obstetric care (including ultrasounds, fetal testing) and management of their CKD utilizing an evidence-based, pregnancy-safe
