I have a special interest in the sexual health of men who have sex with men (both HIV positive and uninfected.)<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Tell us about your current role in the Department of Medicine.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been an assistant professor in the Department since January 2011. Patient care-wise, I have a weekly continuity clinic and precept two of our outstanding clinical fellows. I also serve as the director of the ID Clinic\u2019s hepatitis C treatment team and our clinical working group for <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/ncaidstraining\/prep\/PrEP-for-consumers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis<\/a> (PrEP). The remainder of my time is split between public health-oriented HIV research and medical education. Through my work with the <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/ncaidstraining\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Carolina AIDS Training and Education Center<\/a> (NCATEC), I get to visit various clinics around the state and educate providers about HIV-related topics.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What current project or initiative at UNC are you involved in that you are excited about?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m pretty excited about the opportunity to help students in UNC\u2019s new Physician Assistant Program learn about the presentation and management of different infectious diseases. I serve as the coordinator for the ID portion of the PA Program\u2019s Clinical Medicine course.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What is your hometown?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I grew up in Largo, Florida, which is on the west coast about halfway between Clearwater and St. Petersburg.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\"
