Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. The service will be followed by a light meal in the fellowship hall.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The UNC Department of Medicine mourns the loss of one of our own. Dr. Adam Brock, a fellow in the division of cardiology, passed away Friday, October 18, 2019. \u00a0Dr. Brock was an exceptional physician and a caring individual, and had recently joined the department of medicine. His obituary has been published in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legacy.com\/obituaries\/knoxnews\/obituary.aspx?n=adam-jennings-brock&amp;pid=194304944&amp;\">Knox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Brock was an amazingly brilliant doctor and his death leaves a void in our community that can never be filled,\u201d said Lisa Rose-Jones, MD, UNC Cardiology Fellowship Program Director.\u00a0 \u201cAdam had a smile that would immediately light up any room he entered.\u00a0 He was incredibly thoughtful when it came to patient care, taking the time to get to know his patients.\u00a0 His co-fellows will miss his great sense of humor, as he was well known for his ability to make us laugh.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his fellowship interview last year, Dr. Brock expressed excitement about what he believed to be the most fascinating subspecialty in medicine. He was eager to develop new skills that could define his practice, and above all, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be considered for a position as a UNC cardiology fellow.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Brock graduated medical school from the University of Virginia and wanted to understand subjects that captivated him, like human physiology, disease processes and pharmacology. He wanted to help people live longer and healthier lives, and he planned to pursue a career in interventional cardiology.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, he had completed his residency at Duke, which he described as extremely gratifying, with fascinating patient interactions, supportive and engaging colleagues and faculty, the challenge to solve difficult problems, and pervasive opportunities to expand his understanding of medical practice. In his video as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=r74sZWYMmic\">resident at Duke University School of Medicine<\/a>, Dr. Brock explained his path to medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Brock&#8217;s family is planning a memorial service for 4 pm on November 10, at St. John\u2019s Episcopal Cathedral in Knoxville, TN.\u00a0 A celebration of his life is also planned for November 16 in the Triangle.
