Evan Dellon, MD, MPH<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Evan S. Dellon, MD, MPH<\/a>, has been named director of the Office of Medical Student Research (OMSR)<\/a>, preceded by Nicholas J. Shaheen, MD, who directed OMSR for many years and engaged countless medical students in meaningful research experiences.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n

Dellon is a professor of medicine and adjunct professor of epidemiology in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology, and has been on faculty at UNC since 2008.\u00a0 Dellon\u2019s main research interest is in the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and the eosinophilic GI diseases (EGIDs). He has been involved in mentoring medical students in research for the past 15 years, and since 2015, has served as the associate director (clinical) of the OMSR, helping to administer the Carolina Medical Student Research Program (CMSRP).<\/p>\n

Dellon hopes to encourage more faculty in departments across the UNC School of Medicine, assist students and their mentors, by finding and participating in research experiences across all four years of medical school.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
