He utilizes large datasets to study invasive infections \u2013 such as infective endocarditis and bone, joint and spine infections \u2013 affecting people who inject drugs, in both North Carolina and the US. Dr. Schranz\u2019s work aims to describe the incidence of such infections and characterize patient outcomes. Therefore, his work also focuses on improving the care of patients hospitalized with severe infections in North Carolina, including determining how best to deliver addiction treatment and harm
