David Weber, MD, MPH<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

David Weber<\/strong><\/a>, MD, MPH, medical director of hospital epidemiology (infection prevention), has been commended by Fort Bragg’s US Army Commanding Lieutenant General Michael Kurilla for his “leadership and critical partnership with Fort Bragg and Womack Army Medical Center.”<\/p>\n

Kurilla’s letter expressed gratitude for Weber’s efforts, which he said are not only vital to the health of the community, but also play a pivotal role in ensuring the readiness of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces that call Fort Bragg home.<\/p>\n

William Roper, interim president of the UNC System, also praised Weber’s “strong leadership and assistance to the UNC System and the State of North Carolina,” working through the unprecedented challenges COVID-19 presented.<\/p>\n

“His expertise has helped the UNC System craft a strategic response to the pandemic. From the beginning, David\u2019s willingness to share and decipher his extensive knowledge of infectious disease has been vital in guiding the UNC System\u2019s approach. His input has informed our senior leadership, our Board, and the chancellors, medical professionals, and crisis communications teams at each of our institutions. David has played a critical role helping us keep our students, faculty, and staff safe during this pandemic, while minimizing the disruption to our core educational mission,” Roper said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Weber is professor medicine in the division of infectious diseases, professor of pediatrics and associate chief medical officer for UNC Health.<\/p>\n
