With this new designation, lead principal investigator, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/directory\/edwin-h-kim-md-ms\/\"><strong>Edwin Kim<\/strong><\/a>, MD, MS, will receive a $100,000 stipend to help develop critical infrastructure necessary to deliver optimal clinical care and leadership in the community to patients with food allergy.<\/p>\n<p>This week, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodallergy.org\/resources\/fare-clinical-network-centers-distinction\">FARE Clinical Network<\/a> <\/strong>&#8211; a group of top food allergy centers led and coordinated by FARE &#8211; announced its expansion to include 44 participating institutions in 22 states and the nation\u2019s capital. By increasing the locations for multi-site clinical trials, the network will facilitate the development of new therapies, diagnostics, and prevention strategies and will make access to experimental treatments possible for volunteers drawn from a larger and more diverse patient population.<\/p>\n<p>The FCN Network has three types of centers, including Discovery Centers of Distinction, Clinical Research Centers of Distinction, and Clinical Care Centers of Distinction. As leader of a Discovery Center of Distinction, Dr. Kim and his team of researchers will conduct new research on treatments, diagnostics, prevention and improvements to care.
