Ada Adimora, Joe Eron and Stephen Cole<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>An article published in <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"black_women_hiv\" href=\"http:\/\/globalhealth.unc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Low-Incidence-Testing.pdf\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Clinical Infectious Diseases<\/a> by Drs. Ada Adimora, Joe Eron and Stephen Cole suggests a new approach to HIV clinical trials for black women, who bear the highest burden of infection among US women.<\/p>\n<p>The article outlines current issues associated with testing bio-medical prevention products in populations where HIV incidence is higher than the general population but at a level where a randomized controlled trial would require thousands of participants. A new strategy would incorporate the use of drug concentrations and recognized epidemiologic methods to estimate intervention effects.
