Health, was featured in a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bpr.org\/post\/how-mission-health-decides-test-surgery-patients-covid-19#stream\/0\">Blue Ridge Public Radio story<\/a> <\/strong>that recognized how Mission Health decides to test surgery patients for COVID-19.\u00a0 Weber says testing surgery patients for COVID-19 has become more important as physicians learn more about the disease and community spread has increased.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you have COVID \u2013 pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic \u2013 and you undergo surgery then you have higher risks from the surgery, complications and higher mortality,\u201d Weber said, adding that his concern is for the patients.<\/p>\n<p>He also explained that UNC Hospitals test every patient pre-surgery for COVID-19, despite the fact that
