In this role, McCann will help the hospital and Medicine specialties effectively manage clinical operations, particularly for patient-centric clinical programs that offer comprehensive care across multiple sites and facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been fortunate to have Meghan working with us as a hospital administration partner for some time now, contributing to our efforts to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction and safety,\u201d said Falk, chair of the UNC Department of Medicine. \u201cThis partnership will realize shared goals between the Department and UNC Medical Center.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCann brings 20 years of experience as an administrative leader, creating innovative solutions for outpatient and acute care services to improve care and organizational efficiency. With expertise in operations across acute levels of care and the outpatient arena, she has successfully built and expanded operational structures for outpatient services while integrating and aligning research and clinical efforts. Her oversight of acute care services which includes Care Management, Pharmacy, and Children\u2019s Services will also create synergy as a partner with the Department of Medicine to meet patient needs across the continuum of care.<\/p>\n<p>As vice chair for hospital integration, McCann will engage in all initiatives related to improvements in quality and efficiency of patient care, by participating in department leadership meetings with division chiefs, clinical program directors, and outpatient leadership. Already, McCann has been working closely with Medicine on a number of projects, including Eastowne, a project to improve hospital discharge coordination, and the response to COVID-19. McCann served as operational project leader for the new six-story ambulatory medical office building at Eastowne which consolidates Medicine specialties at one location, set to open next month. She also led an outreach effort to support congregate living communities that resulted in UNC Health receiving a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/mccann-and-hanson-worked-proactively-to-support-congregate-living-communities-early-in-the-pandemic\/\">Community Health Partnership Award<\/a>. Most recently, she led the health care worker vaccination effort, in collaboration with occupational health leaders, through the creation of the\u00a0UNCH COVID Vaccination Clinic at the Medical Center.
