But after reports the shot may trigger a rare side effect, public health officials worry that the people in some countries may have lost faith in the world\u2019s most important vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>In an article published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/health\/medical\/can-astrazeneca-dispel-doubts-about-its-shots\/ar-BB1fdDVz\">MSN.com and National Geographic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/directory\/nigel-key\/\">Nigel Key<\/a>, MD, the Harold R. Roberts Distinguished Professor in the division of hematology explained the syndrome as &#8220;something entirely different from the garden variety type of blood clots.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The syndrome presents a unique combination of symptoms, including blood clots that occur in unusual places, and in seemingly contradictory fashion, it\u2019s also associated with a drop in platelet counts, the substances that help blood coagulate. \u201cIt\u2019s the peculiarity of this particular syndrome that is unusual,\u201d he said. \u201cMany had cerebral thrombosis [strokes and bleeds]. So it greatly narrows down the possibilities of what we\u2019re seeing.
