June 30th marked the completion of the ACGME portion of ID fellowship for three ID Fellows, Arianne Morrison, Laura Rachal, and Min Kim; along with the completion of Daphne Henson-Villanueva’s ICHID Fellowship. To celebrate, the faculty hosted the first in-person event in quite some time- at the Sienna Hotel in Chapel Hill. Complete with delicious food, beverages, and good company, the graduates celebrated their success and future with ID faculty, co-fellows, and family. While we are happy three of the four will be staying with us at UNC a bit longer, Daphne will be missed!\u00a0 Congratulations, Graduates! <\/span><\/p>\n

\nDr. Morrison will be continuing her research focused on HIV prevention in women and working on clinical trials within the UNC AIDS Clinical Trials Unit. She is pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR) degree at UNC Gillings School of Public Health and entering her second year in the UNC Preventive Medicine residency. Her research mentor is Dr. Christopher Hurt.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nDr. Rachal is doing a combined Adult and Pediatric ID fellowship. She has completed training in Adult ID and is in her second year of training in Pediatric ID. She is continuing her research on HIV prevention and engagement in care among adolescents and young adults within the UNC-Emory Center for Innovative Technology in HIV behavioral research (iTech). Her research mentor is Dr. Lisa Hightow-Weidman.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nDr. Kim will be continuing her research on Hepatitis B epidemiology and her work on a COVID-19 Prevention Network (CoVPN) study. She is pursuing her MPH degree at UNC Gillings School of Public Health and starting the UNC Preventive Medicine residency. Her research mentor is Dr. Arlene Sena.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
