Lawmakers in Arkansas and Missouri are also talking about reimposing the restriction.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/directory\/david-wohl-md\/\">David Wohl<\/a>, MD, professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases, said he believes it\u2019s time for mask mandates to return. He said they should be required for vaccinated and unvaccinated people in places where vaccination status is unknown, like in stores and restaurants.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs17.com\/community\/health\/coronavirus\/as-covid-cases-surge-will-mask-rules-return-in-north-carolina\/\">Read more from CBS-17<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Wohl was also featured in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs17.com\/covid-19-and-schools-2\/nc-officials-to-issue-updated-mask-guidance-for-schools-this-week\/\">CBS-17 news report<\/a>\u00a0about\u00a0NC health officials issuing updated mask guidance for schools, where he agreed\u00a0with the American Academy of Pediatrics&#8217; recommendation that everyone over the age of two years old wear a mask in school, even if they are vaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe key thing is when you start having just a few cases, you know, in a school, that school changes,\u201d Wohl said. \u201cThings get closed down, we don\u2019t need that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs17.com\/covid-19-and-schools-2\/nc-officials-to-issue-updated-mask-guidance-for-schools-this-week\/\">Read more from CBS-17.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With COVID-19 cases rising, will mask mandates return to North Carolina?
