The honor includes a three-year, $450,000 grant from Conquer Cancer, the American Society of Clinical Oncology\u2019s (ASCO) foundation, to support her research into a patient-centered mobile health app to increase Black women\u2019s participation in breast cancer clinical trials.<\/p>\n<p>Research advances have led to more effective cancer treatments for breast cancer, but studies have shown that Black women are more likely to die from breast cancer compared to all other women in the United States, and they are less likely to be asked to join cancer research studies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fundamental cause of racial inequities in health outcomes is systemic racism.
