This approach shows such promise that it\u2019s already being tested in an ongoing clinical trial in people with advanced bladder cancer.<\/p>\n<p>This finding, led by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/directory\/william-y-kim\/\"> William Kim<\/a>, MD, professor of medicine in the division of oncology and member of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, was published August 16 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jci.org\/articles\/view\/138560\"><em>Journal of Clinical Investigation<\/em><\/a>. and featured August 20 in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/oncology-times\/Fulltext\/2021\/08200\/Bladder_Cancer_Immunotherapy_Response_Based_on.15.aspx\">Oncology Times<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBladder cancer rates in the United States have been stable or decreasing slightly over the past decade, but five-year survival rates have barely budged since the 1990s,\u201d said Kim, the Rush S.
