America is a vast land of many cultures dating back thousands of years to the original inhabitants of the land. We observe\u00a0Native American Heritage Month<\/a>\u00a0in November to recognize the achievements and contributions of Native Americans. In 1990 President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November 1990 \u201cNational American Indian Heritage Month.\u201d Similar proclamations, under variants on the name (including \u201cNative American Heritage Month\u201d and \u201cNational American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month\u201d) have been issued each year since 1994. November 13 – World Kindness Day<\/h3>\n

In a world that seems to be getting more and more divided, it can feel like there\u2019s not much you can do. And yet, we all know that doing small acts of kindness for strangers or people in need is one of the best ways to make the world a better place. It doesn\u2019t take much effort but it has an incredible impact on those around us. That\u2019s why World Kindness Day was created. Spread as many smiles as possible and participate during World Kindness Day 2021 (and beyond). Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n

November 16 – International Day for Tolerance<\/h3>\n

In 1994,\u00a0UNESCO<\/a>\u00a0marked the 125th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth paving the way for the proclamation of 16 November as the International Day for Tolerance by the UN. This illustrative book pays tribute to the values of the Mahatma of peace, non-violence and equality. Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n

November 20 – Transgender Day of Remembrance<\/h3>\n

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorated all the transgender people lost to violence since Rita Hester’s death, and began an important tradition that has become the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. November 28 – Hanukkah<\/h3>\n
