Most recently, she led the development and implementation of the Individualization Phase curriculum, including the development of an Elective in Porto, Portugal, and the Scholarly Concentration Programs at the UNC School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Felix is looking forward to the opportunity to reduce &#8220;neurophobia&#8221; and reduce barriers to the expected shortfall of trained neurologists in the workforce. She works as an embedded Neurologist in General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and the UNC Brain and Body Program (Center for Retired Athletes).<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Felix was born in Portugal and completed Medical School at the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg, South Africa, with subsequent residency and fellowship training in Boston. Dr. Felix has been a member of the UNC Chapel Hill Faculty since 2002.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the AAN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) is a professional society representing over 38,000 neurologists and neuroscientists. The medical specialty society was established in 1948 by A.B. Baker of the University of Minnesota to advance the art and science of neurology, and thereby promote the best possible care for patients with neurological disorders.
