{"id":59515,"date":"2022-05-17T13:22:12","date_gmt":"2022-05-17T17:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/?p=59515"},"modified":"2023-06-06T18:19:53","modified_gmt":"2023-06-06T22:19:53","slug":"two-cardiology-clinical-trials-selected-for-a-top-research-site-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/news\/two-cardiology-clinical-trials-selected-for-a-top-research-site-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Cardiology Clinical Trials Selected for a Top Research Site Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n[envira-gallery id=&#8221;59530&#8243;]\n<p>UNC Health Care has been selected for a <strong><em>2022 Top Research Site Award <\/em><\/strong>by the <a href=\"https:\/\/hfcollaboratory.com\/\">Heart Failure Collaboratory<\/a> (HFC) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/hfsa.org\/\">Heart Failure Society of America<\/a> (HFSA) for outstanding performance on two clinical trials: <a href=\"https:\/\/clinicaltrials.gov\/ct2\/show\/NCT03988634\">PARAGLIDE-HF<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/clinicaltrials.gov\/ct2\/show\/NCT04840914\">LY3461767 in Participants With Chronic Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction<\/a>. The vision of the Heart Failure Society of America is to significantly reduce the burden of heart failure and provide a platform for collaboration, education, innovation, research, and advocacy to improve and expand care. The Heart Failure Collaboratory is a public-private partnership with the FDA and the consortium to help foster the development of new products for heart failure. The HFC and the HFSA come together to identify investigators and study coordinators who have an aptitude for clinical research and performed well throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6232 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/945\/2018\/12\/kirkwood-adams.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"140\" height=\"175\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-38456 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/945\/2019\/08\/tammy-long-NP.jpg\" alt=\"Tammy Long, NP, Cardiology\" width=\"140\" height=\"175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/945\/2019\/08\/tammy-long-NP.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/945\/2019\/08\/tammy-long-NP-240x300.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 140px) 100vw, 140px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The recipients of the award, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/directory\/tammy-i-long-agnp-msn-rn-ccrn\/\">Tammy Long, AGNP<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/directory\/kirkwood-adams\/\">Kirk Adams, MD<\/a>, specialize in heart failure in UNC&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/cardiology\/\">Division of Cardiology<\/a>. This annual award recognizes top PI\u2019s, study coordinators, and sites. To be eligible, nominees should have meaningful involvement in a clinical trial listed on <a href=\"https:\/\/clinicaltrials.gov\/\">ClinicalTrials.gov<\/a>. Nominees\u2019 range of accomplishments can include meritorious achievement in trial design, execution\/enrollment, and\/or reporting scientific content in a trial in which they were involved, as well as challenges encountered and steps taken to meet the challenge in a trial. The goal is to promote the work of those who are outstanding participants in Heart Failure clinical trials. They are also particularly interested in recognizing the diverse population of scientists across under-represented minority groups, sex, ethnicity, geographic location, and economic landscapes.<\/p>\n<p>The nominations were reviewed by the HFC Research Network Working Group in the first two quarters of 2022. The winners will each receive a $500 credit towards registration for the <a href=\"https:\/\/hfsa.org\/hfsa-annual-scientific-meeting-2022\">HFSA Scientific Sessions<\/a>, September 30 &#8211; October 3, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, DC.
