Subhashini Sellers<\/a>, MD, MSc has been named as a new course director for the Science of Medicine course, a required course in the Individualization Phase at the UNC School of Medicine. Dr.\u00a0Sellers and Sheryl Jordan, MD, RCC, will teach students the science behind medical advances, exploring the steps of basic research, translational research, and clinical research. The course also reviews the ethics of science, funding, and publication.<\/p>\n

Subhashini Sellers, MD, MSc<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Dr. Sellers is an assistant professor in the Division of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine<\/a> and is an attending physician in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. She received her medical degree at Sidney Kimmel Medical College and stayed at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for training in Internal Medicine, followed by a year as Chief Medical Resident. She then joined UNC-Chapel Hill for a fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine, and served as Chief Fellow.<\/p>\n

Sellers earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Research from UNC Gillings School of Public Health. In addition to her time in the MICU, Sellers also runs the HIV-Pulmonary clinic, a unique general pulmonary clinic co-located within the ID division focused on caring for patients HIV-associated lung diseases. Her research interests include clinical research focused on care delivery for HIV-associated lung diseases and the burden of respiratory viruses in people living with HIV (PLWH), as well as translational research focused on the upper respiratory tract immune response in severe respiratory viral infection in vulnerable populations, including PLWH.<\/p>\n
