Archie, Jr. Eminent Professor of Medicine\u00a0in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/rheumatology-allergy-immunology\">Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology<\/a>. Dr. Doug Phanstiel &#8211;\u00a0who is in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology &#8211; is the principal investigator, and Dr. Loeser is a co-principal investigator for the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases grant, &#8220;Identifying novel osteoarthritis risk genes using GWAS, chondrocyte, genomics and genome editing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The innovative research seeks to identify putative causal knee OA risk variants, map them to their target genes, and quantify their phenotypic impact in chondrocytes.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Brian Diekman and Dr. Karen Mohlke are co-investigators in this research project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Richard F.
