Baron, MD, MASGE<\/a>, has been honored with the Rudolf Schindler Award, the most prestigious award from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;The Schindler award is the most prestigious award from the ASGE, and I have been fortunate enough to have worked directly with <\/em><em>\u2013<\/em><em> and been mentored by <\/em><em>\u2013<\/em><em> past Schindler Award recipients. I am very proud and honored to receive this award, which I can share with my family, mentors and mentees.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Having published over 700 papers, been the lead editor of the textbook ERCP and preformed procedures in dozens of counties, Dr. Baron is nationally and internationally known for his expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures. He is specifically interested in endoscopic treatment of complex gastrointestinal disorders, particularly management of pancreaticobiliary obstruction through the use of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). Additionally, he is working to develop improved methods of treating a variety of conditions using interventional endoscopic techniques, many of which were previously treated surgically.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1998 Dr. Baron has served the ASGE. He chaired the Standards of Practice Committee from 2005-2008 and has provided lectures for the last 20 years.
