Jaime Foster plays a large role in making sure the Department of Medicine runs smoothly and after 13 years she is still met with new tasks to take on every day. Jaime is also a traveler at heart and often likes to adventure without a specific destination planned. Soon she hopes to explore internationally.<\/p>\n

\"Jaime<\/a>What\u2019s your role and how long have you been a part of our Department?<\/h3>\n

I\u2019m a senior executive assistant in Medicine Administration, and have been with the department 13 years.<\/p>\n

Where are you from?<\/h3>\n

Winston-Salem, NC<\/p>\n

What originally attracted you to work at UNC Department of Medicine?<\/h3>\n

I was relatively new to Chapel Hill. I was working with a temporary agency and took a short term assignment in the department. Several months later, an admin position was posted, I applied and was hired. \u00a0Since then, I\u2019ve received several promotions.<\/p>\n

What is the most interesting project you’ve been a part of so far?<\/h3>\n

The total redesign of the Medicine Administration Suite. At that time, Dr. Falk had recently become the department Chair, and Karen was recently hired.\u00a0 She and I were temporarily relocated to the \u201cworkroom\u201d in the Nephrology offices in Burnett Womack! The leadership team was relocated to assorted locations. \u00a0It was quite the experience\ud83d\ude0a!\u00a0 Karen and I got to know each other well, and it was great getting to know the staff in Nephrology.<\/p>\n

What do you enjoy most about working here?<\/h3>\n

The people. My coworkers are great, and the department leadership team are all excellent.<\/p>\n

How has your role evolved over time since you\u2019ve been here?<\/h3>\n

I was the assistant to Dr. Runge the previous chair for a number of years. He was also Executive Dean and director of TraCS. When he left, I was ready to move on or step back! Dr. Falk brought in Karen, and it\u2019s been a great fit for everyone.<\/p>\n

What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job?<\/h3>\n

How diverse it is. Everyday is different.\u00a0 My mantra is \u201cI learn something new everyday\u201d, and after 13 years, I still do.<\/p>\n

What are you most proud of, personal or professional?<\/h3>\n

My two sons. They are grown men and are both amazing!<\/p>\n

What\u2019s one thing on your bucket list?<\/h3>\n

To travel internationally.<\/p>\n

Do you have hobbies outside of work that you enjoy?<\/h3>\n

I\u2019m involved in several dinner, and community groups. I volunteer with Habitat.\u00a0 I like to read mysteries and I go for walks with friends.<\/p>\n

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?<\/h3>\n

As I\u2019ve gotten older, I often get in my car and just take off for an adventure without a specific destination. I love exploring new places and wish I had done more impromptu traveling earlier.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?<\/h3>\n
