\nThe JARS Conference signifies the completion of our resident’s first year of training and celebrates their transition to upper level residents. The day provided an opportunity for our internal medicine residents to participate in educational breakout sessions as well as look back on accomplishments from their intern year.<\/p>\n

With a session on how to best give feedback, a Q&A with our chief residents, a demonstration on bedside rounding, and more, the goal was for everyone to feel prepared to take the next step in their medical training journey. “It’s been kind of cool to just see the growth that we’ve made and how we can compare ourselves to the first day of residency,” Rose Nganga, MD, PhD, said.<\/p>\n

Soon, these residents will be tasked with helping train the interns who will join the Department in the summer. JARS gave them the final tools and a boost of confidence to become leaders in the internal medicine residency program.<\/p>\n

“It’s really nice to see the progression of my own personal growth but also my co-residents,” Bobby Ijeoma, MD, said. “So, I’m really excited to see how we develop even further with this new task of being upper levels and then also seeing how these new additions to our team contribute to the growth at UNC.”<\/p>\n

To conclude the conference, the interns received white coats with their names imprinted for the first time.<\/p>\n

“This is an opportunity for us to take that next step to be\u00a0our own autonomous physicians and really take the next step to being who we want to be in the future,” Govind Kallumkal, MD, said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
