According to <a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jama\/fullarticle\/2807645\">a recent JAMA Network article<\/a>, a new study further demonstrates that this measure by itself doesn&#8217;t fully capture risk of death.<\/p>\n<p>The article quotes associate professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/geriatrics\/research\/dr-john-batsis-research\/\">Dr. John Batsis<\/a>, much of whose work focuses on obesity, loss of muscle mass, strength, and function with aging. He believes that BMI is no longer the gold standard that it was once thought to be.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Batsis says, \u201cWe need to move away from BMI or use it in conjunction with other measures.
