Next year she hopes to attend two medical conferences.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-44945 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/945\/2020\/08\/Danielle-Camastra.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/945\/2020\/08\/Danielle-Camastra.jpg 633w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/945\/2020\/08\/Danielle-Camastra-185x300.jpg 185w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/945\/2020\/08\/Danielle-Camastra-301x487.jpg 301w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 264px) 100vw, 264px\" \/>What is your role in the Department and what patients do you serve?<\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019m a physician assistant (Advanced Practice Provider) in the Oncology\/Hematology Infusion Clinic<\/p>\n<h3>Where are you from?<\/h3>\n<p>Originally downstate New York \u2013 near Manhattan, but have lived up, down and all around NY\/NJ for years.<\/p>\n<h3>Did you always envision yourself as an APP?<\/h3>\n<p>Nope, as a child I wanted to be a Veterinarian<\/p>\n<h3>What is the most rewarding part of your work?<\/h3>\n<p>Connecting with patients, feeling that I was able to help them in some way.<\/p>\n<h3>How has your role evolved over time since you\u2019ve been here?<\/h3>\n<p>In a few ways, but difficult to articulate.<\/p>\n<h3>What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job?<\/h3>\n<p>Particularly, working in Infusion; it is difficult to work with the full spectrum of all oncology patients. I am constantly reading and learning. I feel like I never know everything there is to know.<\/p>\n<h3>Personally or professionally, what are you most proud of?<\/h3>\n<p>All of my overcoming of major life events. And of course, my children.<\/p>\n<h3>If you didn\u2019t have a career in medicine, what would you be doing?<\/h3>\n<p>Probably a professional pet photographer. I think it would be fun to be surrounded by puppies and kittens all day. They\u2019re just pure, positive energy.<\/p>\n<h3>What hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?<\/h3>\n<p>I love working out (Spin class, pilates, HIIT, yoga), meditating, being outside, doing arts &amp; crafts with the kids, traveling<\/p>\n<h3>If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?<\/h3>\n<p>That\u2019s tough.
