The collaborative efforts of advanced practice providers and trainees, working alongside attending physicians, resulted in approximately an additional 10,000 new patients seen during the same period. Impressively, the department maintained continuity of care by attending to over 190,000 returning patients. This holistic approach ensures that patients receive comprehensive and ongoing support, emphasizing the department’s dedication to building lasting relationships with the communities it serves.<\/p>\n
The commitment to delivering comprehensive care is further underscored by the department’s impressive procedural statistics. In the last fiscal year, the department performed more than 20,000 gastrointestinal procedures, showcasing its expertise in addressing a wide range of digestive health issues. Additionally, around 3,200 heart catheterizations and 1,200 cardiac electrophysiology procedures were conducted, demonstrating a commitment to advanced cardiovascular care. Furthermore, pulmonologists completed about 600 bronchoscopies and 550 pleural procedures, exemplifying their dedication to addressing a variety of pulmonary conditions.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The Department of Medicine’s impact on patient care extends far beyond its main campus, with strategically located facilities to ensure accessibility for communities throughout the state.
