Dougald Monroe, PhD,<\/strong> professor of medicine in the Division of Hematology and the UNC Blood Research Center, co-authored an article with Ammon Fager, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine at Duke University titled, \u201cStopping the bleed when platelets don\u2019t stick<\/a>\u201d in Nature Cardiovascular Medicine.<\/p>\n

The commentary discusses a novel bifunctional antibody that brings factor VIIa to the surface of activated platelets. The bifunctional antibody is in clinical trials for treatment of the platelet adhesion disorder called Glanzmann thrombasthenia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
