{"id":68734,"date":"2025-02-11T13:41:39","date_gmt":"2025-02-11T18:41:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/?p=68734"},"modified":"2025-02-11T13:41:39","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T18:41:39","slug":"featured-staff-member-christine-wilkins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/news\/featured-staff-member-christine-wilkins\/","title":{"rendered":"Featured Staff Member: Christine Wilkins"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/oncology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1288\/2022\/06\/Christine-Wilkins.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"155\" height=\"303\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>Meet Christine Wilkins, an Administrative Specialist in the Division of Oncology and a member of the DOM Teammate Council!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What\u2019s your role and how long have you been a part of our Department?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Administrative Specialist, 3 years in May.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Where are you from?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I was born in San Antonio and moved to Brooklyn when I was very, very young after leaving New York my mom and I landed in North Carolina and have been here ever since.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What originally attracted you to work at UNC Department of Medicine? <\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The role I have aligned better with my career goals, and I felt that I could bring a variety of skills to my team.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"none\">What is the most interesting project you&#8217;ve been a part of so far?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\"> I am currently apart of the DOM Teammate Council working with two subgroups, Sense of Belonging and Skills Development, I have these groups informative and I get to be a part of making a difference.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What do you enjoy most about working here? <\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The autonomy and simple appreciation. I get to support my team while contributing positively to the culture of my department.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"none\">What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job? <\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">It is important. My providers know and appreciate how hard I work for them, but I want people on the outside to see the importance too, especially in clinical settings.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"none\">What are you most proud of, personal or professional? <\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">I am proud that no matter what I have never given up on my career and that I will be finishing both of my degrees this December.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"none\">What\u2019s one thing on your bucket list? <\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Taking my kids to Barbados, the country my family originates from so they can learn more about who they are and their lineage.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"none\">Do you have hobbies outside of work that you enjoy?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\"> I enjoy The Sims; I have been playing for decades.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"none\">What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\"> Don\u2019t get discouraged, things may get hard, but they are never impossible.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"none\">What\u2019s something about you that not many people know? <\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">I am the oldest of 5 kids between my mom and dad.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meet Christine Wilkins, an Administrative Specialist in the Division of Oncology and a member of the DOM Teammate Council!
