Saira and Shehzad Sheikhs&#8217; Project Voted First Place by Peers at FNIH Biomarkers Consortium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saira Sheikh, MD, Linda Coley Sewell Distinguished Professor of Medicine in the UNC Division of Rheumatology, Allergy &amp; Immunology and Director of the Clinical Trials Program at UNC\u2019s Thurston Arthritis Research Center, along with her brother Shehzad Sheikh, MD, PhD, Professor of Medicine in the UNC Division of Gastroenterology &amp; Hepatology, were invited to pitch their collaborative project, <em>Molecular Phenotyping in Lupus Nephritis, <\/em>at the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) Biomarkers Consortium&#8217;s Inflammation and Immunity Steering Committee Ideation and Design Meeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"736\" data-end=\"928\">Following the presentations, attendees voted on which of the 11 projects should advance to funding discussions. Drs. Shehzad and Saira Sheikhs&#8217; project received the highest number of votes, earning first place.
