Caviness Distinguished Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology &amp; Metabolism, led a study finding 24% of individuals with difficult-to-control type 2 diabetes also present with hypercortisolism (Cushing\u2019s syndrome). This study, entitled CATALYST and published in Diabetes Care, was the largest and most rigorous trial ever conducted to assess the prevalence of hypercortisolism in patients with difficult-to-control type 2 diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany patients have uncontrolled type 2 diabetes despite the use of the best available medications,\u201d said Dr. Buse. \u201cIt is critical for clinicians to consider and address all factors that can contribute to inadequate glucose control.
