Selected by those who prioritize excellent patient care over academic showboating.<\/p>\n<p>From Christina Siems, MD (last year\u2019s recipient): <b><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">&#8220;<\/span><\/b><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">This resident exemplifies what the golden <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">boots represent every day through his unwavering dedication to <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">patient care and his commitment to doing the right thing \u2013 even when <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">it&#8217;s<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\"> difficult. He consistently treats patients with the compassion <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">he <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">would want for his own family. Many examples could be shared but a <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">standout moment came when he found a patient alone with acute <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">change in status, quickly recognized the need for emergent <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">intervention and navigated the next steps with skill and <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">professionalism, even in the face of hierarchy challenges. I <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">wanted to personally highlight his availability, ease <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">of communication, and willingness to put in the <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">work for the betterment of patients (<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">ie<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">. writing <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">H&amp;Ps, calling family members, <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">etc<\/span> <span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">etc<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">).
