Dr. Centrone provides patient care in the\u00a0 Geriatrics Clinic and focuses her clinical work on geriatric primary care, dementia, and caregiver stress. Her academic interests center on medical education and supporting learners across stages of training.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"467\" data-end=\"1001\">Dr. Cetrone\u2019s commitment to education began before medical school, when she taught elementary school students in Washington, District of Columbia. Although she later pursued a career in medicine, teaching has remained a central part of her professional identity. At the University of North Carolina, she teaches in the School of Health Sciences curriculum, facilitates case-based learning, and serves as faculty advisor for the Internal Medicine Interest Group, with a focus on creating supportive and inclusive learning environments.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1003\" data-end=\"1602\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">She has also co-developed the fourth-year medical student elective <em data-start=\"1070\" data-end=\"1087\">The Aging Brain<\/em>, which offers interdisciplinary clinical experiences in geriatrics, neurology, and psychiatry. Dr. Cetrone values mentorship and enjoys working closely with students as they develop their interests and identify career paths within medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree from Davidson College, her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, completed residency training at Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital, and completed fellowship training in geriatric medicine at Boston Medical Center.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Emily Cetrone, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine and the Fellowship Program Associate Director for Geriatrics.
