\"\"Millie Long MD, MPH,<\/strong> Chief of the UNC Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, will be recognized as the 2026 Woman of Distinction in Medicine by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. The 33rd annual awards luncheon will be helped in New York City in April.<\/p>\n

Since 1993, Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation has hosted the Women of Distinction Luncheon, which over the past 33 years has become the top fundraiser for the organization raising nearly $38 million for research and education programs. Each year, the Foundation recognizes exceptional individuals representing the diverse industries of fashion, media, healthcare, finance, and others who are dedicated to improving and enriching the lives of women, the IBD community, and the world.<\/p>\n

Dr. Long\u2019s clinical practice is at the UNC Multidisciplinary Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) center. Her research interests include prevention of complications of IBD, women\u2019s health and clinical epidemiology. \u00a0She is currently co-Principal Investigator for the Pregnancy in IBD and Neonatal Outcomes (PIANO) study. Dr. Long has contributed over 200 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and review articles to the medical literature. \u00a0She is the current co-Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Gastroenterology. She also serves as an invited reviewer for journals such as New England Journal of Medicine, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Gastroenterology.<\/p>\n
