Burnout is widespread among physicians and is the result of health system dysfunctions, rather than weakness on the part of individuals. Improvements in clinical workflow, teamwork and leadership are among the most potent anecdotes to the burnout. This session will describe approaches that institutions and individual practices can take reduce burnout and improve the joy, purpose and meaning in work for health professionals. <\/p>\n<p>Christine Sinsky, MD, is the vice president of professional satisfaction at the American Medical Association. She is also a practicing internist in Dubuque, Iowa, and the Chair of the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation.
